Introduction

English भाषेमध्ये वाक्य अधिक प्रभावी, सुंदर आणि अर्थपूर्ण बनवण्यासाठी Figures of Speech वापरले जातात. कवी, लेखक आणि वक्ते आपल्या विचारांना अधिक प्रभावीपणे व्यक्त करण्यासाठी या अलंकारांचा उपयोग करतात.

Figures of Speech म्हणजे शब्दांचा असा वापर ज्यामुळे वाक्याचा अर्थ अधिक जिवंत आणि प्रभावी बनतो. शिष्यवृत्ती परीक्षेत Simile, Metaphor, Personification आणि Hyperbole या प्रकारांवर आधारित प्रश्न विचारले जातात.

1) Simile (उपमा अलंकार)

Definition

Simile म्हणजे दोन वेगवेगळ्या गोष्टींची तुलना like किंवा as या शब्दांच्या मदतीने केली जाते.

3. The baby is as soft as cotton.
4. He runs like the wind.
5. Her face shines like the moon.

2) Metaphor (रूपक अलंकार)

Definition

Metaphor मध्ये दोन गोष्टींची तुलना थेट केली जाते. येथे like किंवा as वापरले जात नाहीत.

3) Personification (मानवीकरण)

Definition

जेव्हा निर्जीव वस्तू, प्राणी किंवा निसर्गाला मानवी गुण दिले जातात, तेव्हा त्याला Personification म्हणतात.

3. The flowers danced in the breeze.

4) Hyperbole (अतिशयोक्ती)

Definition

Hyperbole म्हणजे एखादी गोष्ट अतिशयोक्ती करून सांगणे म्हणजेच जास्त करून सांगणे.
